The website of Camac Harps is available in English and in French. They are the only manufacturer of harps for concerts in France, which is where all of their harps are produced.
Even though it is known throughout the world that harps made by Camac Harps are some of the better harps, we were not impressed with their website. When we tried their Online shop link we found that the site was under construction. The same was true for their Used harps section.
We enjoyed reading about Joel Garnier who was a co-founder of the Camac Society. He started out producing Celtic harps and went on to create the Blue Harp. Garner then produced the New Generation harps that offered better ergonomics. Camac Harps is one of the most important brands of harps today.
The “Espace Camace” in Paris is more than just a showroom; they refer to it as a definitive resource for harpists. They feature practice studios and an instrument servicing area. In addition, they have a concert hall.
The inventory of harps they had seemed to be sufficient since they offer pedal harps, lever harps, and electric harps. We were frustrated though because their interface didn’t let us compare the offerings in thumbnail images as the other websites did.
As far as accessories, Camac Harps offers a nice variety including a very nice trunk for transporting harps and a three-part transport cover.
Camac Harps only offers the Camac Harps brand, however, Camac Harps is one of the most renowned harp makers in the world. When you’re selecting your harp, be sure to consider purchasing a harp from Camac Harps.
We did like the website feature of being able to download and preview all harp technical manuals online before purchasing the harp. The customer can easily gain access to information about the strings used, the kind of care required, etc, about each individual harp before buying it.
The website for Camac Harps didn’t offer very many features, but they do list all of the competitions in France and also around the world.
Other than the explicit manuals that come with each harp, we were unable to find any more information about the support options that come with Camac harps.
We were shocked this information wasn’t available. Regulating harps is very important and we certainly wouldn’t want anyone to purchase a harp that wasn’t going to be serviced.
Camac Harps did not feature any kind of search ability which was surprising for such a world-renowned company. The fact that their online shop feature was under construction and their used harp section under construction as well really frustrated us.
We did like their descriptions provided for each of their available harps, but were not impressed with the fact that there was no way to compare harps because we couldn’t bring up all images at once. It may be that these features are in the process of being developed.
Camac Harps does provide a newsletter that has information on festivals, concerts, competitions and masterclasses.
Most likely, if you decide a Camac harp is what you want, you will visit this website, but if you are actually going to purchase a harp, read our reviews of the top-ranked sites: Sylvia Woods Harp Center, Harps Etc. and The Harp Connection that offer a more complete selection of harps and accessories.
